Abstract

The project aims to reconstruct aspects of the history of social control institutions in the state of São Paulo designed to control children and adolescents in two different periods. From 1930 to 1960, it seeks to analyze the institutions created for children and adolescents considered to be in a situation of abandonment or offenders. From 2007 to 2014, it seeks to analyze the institutions for young offenders who were in socio-educational detention. The scholarship holder under the project will be in charge of collecting information from the institutional records of children and adolescents who were confined in institutions of Social Service for Minors in the period 1940-1953. The fellow collaborate in feeding the database generated for the storage of information. The student will support the responsible team in organizing the official and unofficial documentation of interest to the research. And she will participate in the general activities of the CEPID NEV-USP program "Building Democracy Daily: Human Rights, Violence and Institutional Trust".
