Abstract The DUNE, Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment, will be a Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) experiment, in which a neutrino beam produced in Batavia, Illinois, will be detected in the city of Lead, South Dakota, 1300 km away. Aimed at the comprehension of long-baseline neutrino oscillation, two far detectors will be installed during the path. The photon detection system will consist of a device called X-ARAPUCA, capable of trapping the light in its inside. A dichroic filter coated with p-Terphenyl inside plays a vital role during the trapping process, in which its efficiency defines the detection optimization. The main goal of this project is the study, through the electrical acquisition of the X-ARAPUCA comparatively to an APD, the dichroic filter that, together with the X-ARAPUCA device, offers the highest photon detection efficiency to the device. All tests will be handled inside a monochromator device, in which it will be possible to study the efficiency of a filter around the liquid argon scintillation light wavelength, of 127nm. | |
