Abstract

This work aims to search for anomalous objects in the Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey (S-PLUS). We focus on quasars and, in particular, those with high redshifts, since these objects are important for studies such as the formation and evolution of the first supermassive black holes and their host galaxies, the reionization era, among others. To find such quasars, we will use machine learning techniques. We intend to elaborate a proposal for requesting time for spectroscopic observation of the quasars selected as rare by our method, with the aim of confirming and characterizing them. In this way, the student will have the opportunity to learn how to reduce and calibrate data from spectroscopic observations. (AU)
