Abstract

The clinical diagnosis of post-intubation tracheal stenosis is usually late, and it may take weeks or months to present signs after extubation. This is based on the fact that dyspnea, its main symptom, manifests itself from a reduction equal to or greater than 70% of the nominal diameter of the tracheal lumen in the stenotic area. However, early diagnosis and treatment may be favorable for the natural history of the disease. In view of this, the present study seeks early detection through non-invasive imaging methods that include Computed Tomography (CT) and Ultrasound (USG) of tracheal stenosis induced in an experimental animal model so that the parameters can be more predictable and controlled.
