Analysis of optical properties of a three-dimensionally printed resin before and after fatigue wear

Abstract

The dental market constantly producing new restorative materials, and it is necessary to know their properties in order to predict their effectiveness for clinical use. Among these materials, printed resins can be used to manufacture fixed prosthetic parts, and it is interesting to know their optical properties in comparison with other materials established in the market. The aim of this study will be to compare the optical properties of three resins, one being made by the direct technique (Resin Gradia Direct X), by milling (Resin Cerasmart) or by three-dimensional printing (Resin VarseoSmile Crown Plus). Thirty samples (n = 10 / group) will be prepared for analysis of color stability (CIE 2000) and translucency, in a spectrophotometer, and fluorescence, in a fluorescence meter. Analyzes will be carried out before and after aging through fatigue wear, for 1,200,000 cycles, under a load of 50 N and a sliding movement of 0.7 mm. The results will be submitted to a test of adherence to the normal curve, with analysis of variance (ANOVA) being performed if the distribution of these values is normal, in addition to parametric statistical tests and with a significance level of 5%. In the scenario where the distribution is not normal, non-parametric statistical tests will be performed.
