Abstract Studying the relation between Roman Elegy's common places and Brazilian Samba's, we realized that the similarities go beyond the poetic material: the social aspect that involves both artists is surprisingly alike. In this sense, this research aims not only to deepen the study of common places in both authors - the mainly objective of the research on Brazil -, but to further describe the similarities this two art expressions have beyond the artistic material. In order to fulfill these objectives, we are going to focus on 1) studying the culture and the social scenario where the Elegies were conceptualised and how it influences the poetical material, as Paulo Martins started in his article "Sobre Metapoesia em Propércio e na Poesia Retórica Romana: O Poeta Rufião", so we can compare it with the ones from Samba, being already studied; 2) further develop the topoi' description, prioritizing the following topoi: metapoetry; recusatio; nequitia; love as an illness; death by love and militia amoris; 3) reverse the point of view for the objects analysis, as a epistemological strategy: if in the ongoing research we analyse both objects from the Elegy's critique point of view, at this possible interchange, we can read the elegies and it's topoi from the point of view o love sambas analysis. Thus, we might even broaden the elegies' topoi understanding. (AU) | |
