Abstract

Nowadays, industries all over the world, more and more, yearn for a large-scale production, with high efficiency and low cost, in order to obtain products that help in the improvement of certain components. In view of this, cyclodextrins (CDs), oligosaccharides produced by microorganisms of the genus Bacillus spp., are highly required in this environment, since they have several characteristics that improve the quality, shelf life and specificity of the substances. In addition, it confers stability, bioadaptability and versatility to substances that, initially, had undesirable properties, such as insolubility and oxidation, given that this molecule, with its glucose arrangement in a chair, guarantees a polar cavity and a nonpolar one, a characteristic that is very useful. in the industrial sector, because, because of this, cyclodextrins have a high power of encapsulating substances, improving chemical, physical and biological characteristics of visiting compounds, that is, encapsulated. The DCs have different arrangements, namely ±, ²- and ³, increasing the size of their cavity, respectively. However, although there are three main types of CDs, the most used nowadays is ²-cyclodextrin, since its production is cheaper and its complexation with other molecules occurs in a simpler and broader way compared to the other two CDs.Therefore, DCs present one of the most advanced molecular encapsulation techniques in a simple and low cost way, which arouses great interest for researchers, and can be seen as a valuable multifunctional tool, since it can revolutionize several areas, such as therapeutics. , functioning as prodrugs for specific and microbiological targets, and may interact with the biofilm produced by microorganisms, preventing various pathologies.
