Abstract

The study of dreams is paramount to psychoanalysis ever since its beginnings. Indeed,the interpretation of dreams has been characterized by Freud as the main and most importantway to access unconscious contents, however, little has Freud manifested regarding psychoticpatients' dreams. Post-freudians have dwelled on psychosis, but still little is known about thedreams of people with that sort of mental suffering. This research aims to investigate dreamsof psychotic patients described on psychoanalytic literature, Sammy's (psychoanalist, JoyceMcDougall) and Renée (psychoanalist, M. A. Sechehaye), and if those can contribute to diagnosis and clinical manadgement of this forms of mental suffering, broadening the aid in mental disorder's treatment and using the clinical study case as methodological proposal. It will, as well, be done a narrative literature review on psychotic patient's dreams, in a way to problematize the reflexion about the studied clinical cases.
