Abstract

At the beginning of each school year, educational institutions are faced with the room allocation problem (PAS), in which all classes must be assigned to classrooms, meeting certain requirements. Many universities carry out this work manually, which can be time-consuming and cause dissatisfaction among users due to the lack of compliance with several desirable characteristics. Through the use of Operational Research techniques, this project proposes the development of mathematical formulations that generate a solution that meets the needs of the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FCA) of Unicamp, in addition to proposing a more balanced distribution between the rooms, in relation to the number of students in the classes. Thus, this project intends to compare/validate the solutions found with the mathematical models with the allocations that have been carried out manually by the university's undergraduate department.
