Abstract

This research project aims to analyze and evaluate various types of formulations for radiality constraints in the problem of reconfiguration of electrical distribution systems. Reconfiguration is an essential technique for optimizing the operation of distribution networks, aiming to reduce electrical losses and improve the reliability and quality of power supply. Maintaining radiality, which ensures a cycle-free network structure, is fundamental for operational simplicity and system protection coordination. The study proposes to develop and apply formulations based on the constraints of the minimum spanning tree problem from graph theory to formulate mixed-integer programming mathematical models for the reconfiguration problem. The developed models will be applied to electrical systems of varying complexity to assess the dimensions of the problem and the computational effort required to solve it. As a result, more efficient models for the reconfiguration problem are expected to be obtained, which can be extended to other optimization problems in the planning and operation of electrical systems.
