Abstract

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a severe inflammatory skin disease characterized by recurrent chronic lesions, nodules, fistulas and abscesses, which often manifests on the scalp, neck, armpits, perineum and inframammary areas. Photobiomodulation (FBM) employs the ionizing energy from light and is used to reduce pain, inflammation, swelling and regenerate tissuedamaged, such as wounds, bones and tendons. This study aims to evaluate the effects of photobiomodulation in the modulation of pain and inflammation in patients with HS and its impact on quality of life. This is a prospective study to be developed at the Ambulatório de Dermatology at the Hospital de Clínicas at UNICAMP. Patients over 18 years of age, of both sexes, who have HS will be included. Data will be obtained through treatment with red light therapy, which will be performed on patients once a week, for 4 weeks using the Laser Therapy Plus® device. For the treatment response on the individual's quality of life, the Dermatology Quality of Life Index questionnaire, translated and validated in Brazil - DLQI - BRA, will be used.
