Abstract

Antimicrobial'sresistance is a widespread feature in pathogenic bacteria to humans and other animals, representing a worldwide public health problem(Ogboluet al., 2020; Mancuso et al.,2021; BenkQet al., 2020). Infections caused by the so called antimicrobial resistant (AMR) bacteria are difficult to treat with available antimicrobials (Dadgostar P., 2019; Velazquez-Meza et al., 2022). A recent report ofthe IACG (Interagency Coordination Group on Antimicrobial Resistance) draws attention to the fact that drug-resistant bacteria are currently responsible for approximately700,000 annual deaths, a situation that in the most pessimistic scenarios could increase to 10 million annual deaths by 2050.This scenario is no longer a fictitious one, since a recent report estimated that in 2019, resistant bacteria were associated with 4.95 million deaths, including 1.27 million deaths that were directly attributable to bacterial AMR(Antimicrobial resistance Collaborators, 2022). Therefore, the searching and description of new antimicrobial drugs is urgent needed to control these infections.
