Abstract

Introduction: Alcohol consumption is a major risk factor for mortality and morbidity, playing a role in over 200 disease and injury outcomes. In this review, we will explore the prevalence rate of the relationship between alcohol use disorders(heavy episodic drinking, heavy drinking, alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence) and borderline personality disorder.Objective: The main objective of this meta-analysis and meta-regression study is to investigate the prevalence of alcohol use disorders (AUD) related to borderline personality disorder (BPD).Methods: We will search Pubmed, Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library (BVS), SciELO, LILACS, EMBASE and PsycINFO databases for studies, reports or abstracts published without language restrictions for reports published between the database creation date and March 10, 2024. This study will follow the PRISMA statement and MOOSE guidelines. If data permit, we will perform meta-analysis and meta-regression.Expected Result: It is expected to find the prevalence of comorbidities between TUAs and borderline personality disorder. The data generated will serve for the planning of public preventive and assistance policies in the context of mental health.Keywords: alcohol use disorders; borderline disorder; borderline; borderline and alcohol.
