Abstract Tandem reactions of CO2 reduction and ethane aromatization are considered emerging technology with great potential for producing light aromatics such as benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX), since they combine the use of highly available raw materials, lower reaction temperature, and mitigation of CO2 emissions. However, they have been little explored in the literature. Further progress in research is essential for the optimization of catalysts and implementation of those processes on an industrial scale. In this sense, this project proposes the development of catalysts based on zeolite ZSM-5/mixed oxides derived from the layered double hydroxide structure (LDH) containing different metals in the layers as precursors of multifunctional catalysts for tandem reactions of CO2 reduction and ethane dehydroaromatization.
