User's perception of home image diagnostic services: implications for patient-centered design, physicians and healthcare companies

Abstract

Despite the increase in the use and perception of the potential of home imaging diagnosis to assist in health care planning, there is still a gap to identify characteristics of this service and perceptions of end users. Clarifying these design concepts could help companies in their development and improvement and provide scientific evidence for the implementation of these services in public and private health, facilitating access to them. Objective: To identify characteristics of operation of a mobile imaging/graphic diagnostic service, as well as user perceptions, to outline design guidelines for these home services. Method: This is an observational, cross-sectional study with a quantitative and qualitative approach. A characterization of a diagnosis company will be carried out, verifying data as human resources, equipment they use, reliability of the exams, type of transport used, execution time and clients' profile. In addition, a company database of a satisfaction survey about the services provided by the company will be checked and telephone calls will be made to end users (doctors, companies and clients) in order to verify positive and negative points about this type of mobile service, reliability on the test results, fear of performing this exam at home, reason for choosing this service and suggestions for changes. Descriptive analysis of quantitative data and content analysis of qualitative data will be performed. Expected results: We hope to propose a design concept after mapping and evaluating the company's operating characteristics and users' satisfaction and perceptions, having scientific impact and relevance, in filling this gap, and clinical and social, as it will allow the improvement of public policies regarding this home service.
