Abstract

Algorithms for genetic improvement of recombinant strains exist in both stationary and dynamic contexts. For the second case, the coupling that allows the carbon, coming from the substrate, to be redirected from the biomass to the product is not optimized. This research project aims to preserve the coupling in dynamic models, seeking to obtain the best arrangement between yield, productivity and production rate (TRY), to increase the economic viability of biotechnological processes. As a result, it is expected to obtain a suggestion of a recombinant strain capable of reaching the estimated metrics. For this purpose, a model involving mixed integer nonlinear mathematical programming of more than one level is proposed. This is proposed by current methodologies (MPCC), and supported by the author's unpublished results, resulting in an unprecedented algorithm in terms of functionalities and mathematical structure.
