Abstract

In this project, we intend to evaluate the effect of different electrolyte compositions on the morphology, composition and hydrophilic properties of films produced by the anodic oxidation of titanium. The set of electrolytes considered in the present investigation includes some key components, which, in turn, determine significant differences in the pH and viscosity of the medium, considering that one group of solutions is predominantly organic in nature and the other, aqueous. Thus, anodizing tests are planned with the recording and analysis of current-time transients, as well as the use of surface characterization techniques, such as field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), in addition to measurements of the contact angle of water with the modified surfaces. In the literature, studies in which basic electrolytes are used in the production of anodic films are rare and, in this context, exploring this area of knowledge, through a correlation with currently accepted theories to explain the mechanism of formation of these structures, can represent an interesting alternative in the field of the most varied technologies under development to make the titanium surface more bioactive.
