Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: The purpose of the facial prosthesis is to reproduce details of the patient's skin, preventing dryness of the face, restoring aesthetics, function, self-esteem and the confidence of being able to live a normal life. However, these prostheses are made of silicone, they have a very short longevity due to the color change of the prostheses when exposed to ultraviolet rays. Proposition: The aim of this study will be to evaluate the influence of the use of 'flockings' on the optical and treated properties of three different pigmented facial silicones, before and after accelerated aging. Materials and Methods: For this, 90 circular exposures will be made, divided into 3 groups, 30 exception of Silastic MDX 4210, 30 exception of food rubber 2420 and 30 exception of A 2186. Each group will be subdivided into 3 subgroups, in which each silicone will be pigmented with bronze pigment (n=10), with flocking (n=10) and bronze pigment + flocking (n=10). All samples will be tested in optical tests and tested, before and after accelerated aging in the UVB/Condensation chamber. The optical tests that will be carried out are: color change (”E00), translucency (TP) and degree of contrast (CR); the tests will be: Shore A hardness, roughness (Ra and Rt), hydrophilicity and surface energy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) associated with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EED). The quantitative data obtained, for each proposed test, will be admitted to the normal curve adherence test, applying the appropriate statistical test to compare the mean values of the different groups, at a significance level of 5%. Qualitative data obtained by scanning electron microscopy images associated with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/DSE) will be detected between groups. Keywords: Facial deformity.
