Abstract

In this project, we propose to apply the simple cation exchange method, recently developed by our group, to coordinate single-atoms onto crystalline carbon nitrides and modulate the electronic properties of the synthesized PHI-Single atoms. By controlling the valance and conduction band position for the PHI, it is possible to design more active catalysts for oxidation and reduction reactions. Our group has already demonstrated that the stabilization of metal single-atoms can be used as a strategy to control the electronic properties of the PHI. Applying this in a controlled manner to catalyze a range of oxidation and reduction reactions would be game-changing in the catalysis field. Allowing the fine design of catalysts with high activities using the minimum metal loading. (AU)
