Abstract

The production of space and nature in contemporary times is marked by several contradictions due to the production of real estate and infrastructure, generating, simultaneously, accumulation for capital and spoliation of the population. The multiple dimensions and complexities involving the process of production and appropriation of nature show the need to advance the research agenda on the subject in different territories. This research aims to analyze the interventions within the scope of the project contemplated by the PAC Drenagem Aricanduva, focusing on those that directly affected families from certain popular territories of the East Zone of São Paulo, with a view to understanding how space and nature have been produced and appropriated, provoking socio-environmental conflicts and contradictions that deepen inequalities in the city. PAC Drainage Aricanduva is illustrative of the social production of risk and how new social and environmental conflicts arise from this type of intervention. The research will be carried out combining different methods, such as the survey and analysis of literature and documents, as well as semi-structured interviews and field work.
