Abstract

This research aims to investigate the impact of digitalization on the interpretation of archival documents and on the understanding of the history of anthropology. To this end, the discussion on the ethnography of documents and materialities is mobilized, with a view to reflecting on the history of anthropology produced in archives. It is intended to develop it through the ethnography of the organizational procedures of the Roberto Cardoso de Oliveira Fund (Fundo RCO) belonging to the Edgard Leuenroth Archive (AEL), of Unicamp, considering the reconfigurations of the materialities of the documents, in a context in which the centers of memory have expended great efforts in digitization processes. By taking as an axis of analysis the collection of one of the most celebrated intellectuals who contributed to debates on the reflexivity of anthropological doing from a hermeneutic perspective, we seek to connect the field of historiography of anthropology and ethnography in archives through the study of changes of the possibilities of interpretation produced by knowledge and archival techniques. Furthermore, although it has already been researched (from other perspectives, which do not usually focus on the pragmatics of this reflective access), this Fund has undergone organizational initiatives and still has material to be digitized, which places it in a unique position compared to other documentary collections. With this, the objective is to contribute to the debates about the construction of the history of anthropology through the ethnography of its sources as available.
