Abstract

During a psychologist's degree, training with a clinical focus occurs mainly in school services that not only offer opportunities for professional practice to Psychology students, but also provide accessible and free services to the community. Thus, it is noted that children - up to 11 years and 11 months - have presented a considerable demand for care in these services in contemporary times. In order to understand and problematize the reasons that shape this reality and what has been recommended to this public as a form of psychological treatment, this research proposes to outline the profile of children who sought the school service at a university public, located in the interior of the state of São Paulo, in the period from 2018 to 2023. To this end, qualitative documentary research will be used as a method to analyze the data recorded in psychological records, aiming to identify the main complaints expressed by children and their caregivers, as well as the clinical demands identified by therapists and the modalities of psychological treatment carried out in the service. Through this mapping, to conduct the analysis of the findings regarding the main psychological needs of children today, the interpretative activity will be based on Winnicottian psychoanalytic theoretical assumptions, as well as using contemporary interpreters. With this, it is expected to enable improvement and possible adjustments in the process of professional training in undergraduate Psychology, including revisions to the curriculum, improvement of practices carried out in supervised internships and direction of new academic research on the subject.
