Abstract

Generating the production of qualified scientific knowledge is essential to reducing exclusion, poverty and social inequality, which is reflected in difficulties in accessing and successfully remaining in higher education today. In this context, it is essential to survey and understand the design of inclusive affirmative educational policies that prioritize guarantees of accessibility and participation for all in higher education, including those who recognize themselves as people with disabilities. This research proposal will move away from conceptions that seek to situate disability on the basis of fixed categories and classifications of normality/abnormality, based on a normative and ahistorical view of the subject, in order to respect the concept of intersectionality that refers to other social determinants and problematize the multiple experiences of oppression and exclusion of people with disabilities in the university contexts investigated. That said, the aim of this research is to investigate the accessibility conditions identified by administrative staff and teachers at the Baixada Santista campus of the Federal University of São Paulo. The actions of this research are part of the activities of the "International Research Network on Accessibility and Inclusion in Higher Education", under CNPq Call No. 26/2021 for Support for Scientific, Technological and Innovation Research: Scholarships Abroad - Proc. 401681/2022-0 and the Accessibility and Inclusion in Higher Education Project, developed at the Baixada Santista campus. The specific objectives are: a) to outline the profile of students, administrative staff and teachers with and without disabilities on undergraduate and postgraduate courses and b) to identify and understand the accessibility indicators that make it easier and/or more difficult for people with disabilities to remain at the institution from the perspective of teachers and administrative staff. The research instrument will be the Inclusion Index for Higher Education - INES-Brazil questionnaire, made available to study participants via a google form. The results will be analyzed by checking the distribution of the values assigned for measurement on the Likert-type scale, using descriptive treatment based on "multiple correspondence analysis". It is hoped that the results achieved, in dialogue with data collected at other universities, will contribute to broadening knowledge about the impact of institutional policies produced for the consolidation of inclusive educational cultures, policies and practices at our university, understanding disability from an intersectional perspective.
