Abstract This research project aims the development and integration of nanostructured electrochemical devices for application in microchips, including organic batteries, biofuel cells and on-chip biosensors. In 2018, we began a scientific collaboration with Harvard University, where miniaturized batteries were developed for application in the new generation of microelectronics. These microbatteries will be integrated into implantable and ingestible biochips, which will be developed at Electroactive Smart Materials Group (ESMG), supported by INL-International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, located at Minho, Portugal and at the Basque Center on Materials, Applications and Nanostructures (BCMaterials), located at Bilbao, Spain. This project involves the integration of molecular bioelectronics into electrochemical devices on-chip, which have autonomous energy production systems. | |
