Abstract

Post-polymerization methods for semi-direct/direct-indirect restorations need to be studied in light of new commercially available resins. New resins range from bioactive materials with low shrinkage to monochromatic resins with a chameleon effect. The aim of this study will be to evaluate the influence of different post-polymerization methods on flexural strength and color stability of bioactive low-shrink and monochromatic resin composites with chameleon effect. For flexural strength, bar-shaped samples will be made, which will be submitted to the three-point bending test in a universal testing machine. For the color stability test, disc-shaped samples will be made and evaluated with a colorimetric spectrophotometer using CIELab coordinates before and after artificial aging by immersion in distilled water at 60ÚC for 24h. Five resin composites will be evaluated: Beautifil II LS, Palfique Omnichroma, Vittra APS Unique, Vittra APS and Empress Direct. After preparation of the specimens, they will be submitted to different post-cure methods: Microwave oven operating at 450W for 3 minutes, Autoclave for 30 minutes and Valo Grand, used for 2 minutes. The data will be submitted to two-way ANOVA. Multiple comparisons will be performed using the Tukey test (± = 5%).
