Abstract

Migration is a complex phenomenon with spatial, economic, political, social and cultural aspects. Thus, migratory movement accompanies the capitalist expansion process of urbanisation and industrialisation, an integral part of the production of wealth, the occupation and transformation of space. Given the structural condition of dependence on Latin American countries, the phenomenon of labour-induced migration becomes intrinsic, as many people seek opportunities to live and work in other continents as a means of survival. The present project is based on a critical analysis of Marxist dependency theory, which characterises the condition of dependency through the transfer of commodity value in its unequal exchange and the overexploitation of labour in the periphery. From this perspective, we will analyse the transfer of value through the displacement of immigrant labour as a valuable commodity, as well as the overexploitation of labour in the core countries.
