Abstract

The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry is experiencing a significant surge, with a staggering 2183 platforms developed worldwide (SIMONSEN et al., 2019). Notably, a remarkable 80% of patents have been generated within the last six years, indicating a remarkable exponential growth rate. The forthcoming years look promising for the drone market, with an expected investment of 18.9 billion dollars by 2030.(CIVATAGLOBAL, 2022)The Denmark Institute of Technology has categorized various primary types of drones, emphasizing the extensive range of applications within this thriving industry.(SIMONSEN et al., 2019) And considering the expansion into the eVTOL (electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) market, the possibilities for applications become even more vast (DEMPSEY, 2021).Despite being a rapidly growing market, the commercial drone industry is primarily dominated by three major companies: an American, a Chinese, and a French one: DJI, Parrot, and 3DR (KAPUSTINA et al., 2021). This is concerning in the Brazilian context, a country that has been a pioneer in the skies since the invention of aviation and is home to the world's third-largest commercial aviation company, Embraer (COSTA; SOUZA-SANTOS, 2010).Hence, this research aims to further develop an educational tool focused on drone development. The testing platform was established in the year 2022 (VILLELA; BECKER; HERNANDES, 2022), and the current goal is to perform modeling and characterization to describe physical phenomena through mathematical equations. With this in mind, this Undergraduate Scientific project proposes employing classical modeling techniques and comparing them with more recent modeling approaches.
