Abstract

The objective is to evaluate the degree of the degenerative joint disease evolution in fracture in the distal femoral physis induced and then treated surgically. The hypothesis is that early treatment slows the progression of joint degeneration. 10 rabbits will be used, which after general anesthesia will have a randomized induction of a fracture of the distal physis of one of the femurs. An implant will later be used to fix it. The radiographic examination to evaluate the presence of degenerative signs of the joint will be carried out at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 days. In addition to the imaging examination, an orthopedic assessment will be carried out with measurement of joint angles and thigh circumference. The data will be evaluated to determine the degree of osteoarthritic evolution.
