Abstract

Facial assessment, using 3D image acquisition technology through stereophotogrammetry, has been used in the field of dentistry with the aim of carrying out more precise and efficient analyses. Based on this premise, the present work will propose to evaluate linear, angular measurements, perimeter and area of the face of young adults (20-28 years old) with complete unilateral cleft who underwent primary lip surgery (Spina technique) and palate (Furlow x von Langenbeck techniques), between 9 and 12 months, using stereophotogrammetry, in an attempt to quantitatively elucidate whether the techniques significantly impact the final result. The analysis will be carried out on 60 individuals divided into two groups: G1-30 patients operated using the Spina technique (lip) and the Furlow technique (palate); G2-30 patients operated using the Spina technique (lip) and the Von Langenbeck technique (palate). Twenty-four anatomical facial points will be determined on the face, the photo will be captured and through the software it will become a 3D image. From the anthropometric points, we will obtain linear, angular, perimeter and area measurements. The numerical values will be subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a significance level of 0.05 and multiple comparison test. The present work has innovative characteristics in the multidisciplinary area and will therefore be able to reveal important facial metric results in a specific group of patients, and assist in the interpretation of these post-treatment results, a treatment that inserts the patient into society, restoring dignity and quality of life.
