Abstract

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is characterized by unusual disturbances in personality that lead to dysfunctional features such as mood instability, interpersonal relationship instability, self-image disturbances, as well as impulsive and self-harming behaviors. Among the instruments used to assess aspects present in BPD are the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS), the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11), and the Clinical Personality Dimensional Inventory (IDCP-2). Despite the diagnostic significance of this disorder, there is a dispersion of evaluated characteristics in different tests, requiring them to be unified into a comprehensive instrument. Additionally, there is a lack of alternative tests in the literature to assess BPD, as most instruments are self-report based. Currently, the Test of Emotional Story Organization (TOHE) is associated with these constructs, although it does not yet have more specific items aimed at assessing TPB. Therefore, the objective of this study is to develop a new version of TOHE focused on a more specific investigation of BPD. As part of the validity studies, we intend to correlate the developed instrument with other measures assessing similar constructs. It is expected to find moderate to high correlations, which would indicate evidence of construct validity for the new instrument.
