Abstract

Public policies are essential to combat deforestation in the Atlantic Forest and promote restoration in the biome, ensuring the provision of ecosystem services for current and future generations. In this context, various studies are conducted to optimize available resources and address identified priority areas within landscapes dominated by this biome. Given its vast extent, prioritizing areas becomes crucial for optimizing efforts, actions, and resources to enhance vegetation and ensure its sustainability. This project involves several steps to meet the methodological challenge of defining priority areas for the implementation of Conservation Units (UCs) along with priority areas designated for restoration to support the existence of these UCs. The focus is on restoration to conserve important remnants, achieved through the creation of buffer zones and ecological corridors. Furthermore, efforts aim to identify synergies and tradeoffs between the challenge of restoration for the benefit of Conservation Units and remnants of native vegetation and other challenges posed by CCD-EMA.
