Abstract

Chitosan is a natural polymer from a renewable source. It has been studied due to its advantages, such as the ability to form flexible and resistant films, antimicrobial action, biocompatibility, low toxicity, and the ability to act as a vehicle for bioactive compounds. This project aims to apply natural bioactive compounds extracted from the Amazon region, murumuru butter, and rosin white resin essential oil, forming an active chitosan film with potential application for skin treatment, aiming at hydration and antimicrobial action. Murumuru (Astrocaryum murumuru Mart.) is used in the cosmetic field as a moisturizer with antimicrobial properties. It contains vitamins A and E. White rosin resin oil (Protium heptaphyllum Aubl.) is an aromatic compound extracted from the resin of a tree found in the Amazon region, with healing, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. It is currently used as an important input in the perfume industry. This project aims to develop a chitosan film incorporating bioactive compounds native to the Amazon region to be applied as a sustainable, eco-friendly cosmetic alternative for skin treatment.
