Abstract

It is believed that environmental aspects such as relief characteristics, age of the fragment and landscape structure can influence the variance in wood density. This density indicates functional diversity, ecological succession and the presence of endemic species, in addition to participating in carbon regulation and representing, for this reason, a significant role in identifying conservation areas. Therefore, the variation in wood density is relevant to ecological and forest dynamics models and, therefore, the present research project intends to evaluate the difference between trunk and branch density across these environmental variables. With this, it is expected to present, using generalized linear models (GLM), whether the difference between the density of the trunk and the branch can answer how this relationship varies with environmental aspects.
