Abstract

This study aims to enhance the understanding of the application of multifunctional bacteria in agriculture, focusing on soybean cultivation, a crucial crop for the Brazilian economy. In response to the growing pressure for sustainable agricultural systems, evaluating the impact of new bacteria on soybean growth and soil microbiota dynamics addresses both environmental urgency and the demand for innovation in the agricultural sector. The multifunctional approach of these bacteria holds transformative potential, promoting plant growth and positively influencing soil health, thereby contributing to the sustainability of the agricultural ecosystem and catalyzing advancements in the Brazilian bioeconomy. With this purpose, the project aims to conduct greenhouse experiments to assess the impact of new bacterial strains on soybean crop growth, evaluating microbial communities and deepening the understanding of the correlation between soil microbiota and the new bacterial isolates. To achieve this, third-generation sequencing techniques will be employed complementarily to conventional methodologies used in agricultural microbiology studies. This molecular approach will not only enhance the understanding of underlying mechanisms but also provide insights into the interaction of these bacteria with soil microbiota, significantly contributing to the advancement of knowledge in environmental genomics and soil microbiology. The project, conducted in collaboration between MetaGenLab, the Plant Physiology Laboratory, and ByMyCell, will complement ongoing research, strengthening the scientific knowledge base and contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.
