Abstract

The N2+ molecular ion is of great importance for the knowledge of reaction mechanisms in the upper part of the Earth's atmosphere and for this reason its spectra have been extensively studied. Optical diagnostics and radiative modeling require spectroscopic accuracy of data (wavenumbers, molecular constants, transition probabilities) to perform the characterization of arc jets and radiofrequency or microwave plasma torches and also to predict air radiation, for example, in the reentry of space vehicles into the Earth's atmosphere. However, even with the first spectra of this ion having been produced in 1932, there is still a lack of information about it. This is mainly due to the fact that the spectra of the present molecule present perturbations which make it difficult to obtain precise spectroscopic constants. In this project, we propose an investigation of the N_2^+ molecule. We will produce the spectra of this molecule and then we will improve the spectroscopic constants of this cation. We will carry out the characterization of the used discharge and later we will carry out the treatment of the existing disturbances in the spectra.
