Abstract

Vitamin D has a fundamental contribution to the maintenance of good health. However, there is great variability in the reference values for vitamin D, which makes it difficult to define an appropriate standard for the Brazilian population. The overall aim of the project is to determine more reliable vitamin D reference values for the Brazilian population in different population groups, taking into account variables such as age, gender, season and exposure to UV rays. To this end, the vitamin D levels (electrochemiluminescence) of patients from 32 UBS's in São Bernardo do Campo will be analyzed from 2018 to 2022, using the database of the Matrix Interface System used by the Clinical Analysis Laboratory of the ABC Medical School. The qualitative variables will be described by absolute and relative frequencies. Quantitative variables will be described by median, 95% confidence interval and 25th and 75th percentiles, after normality testing (Shapiro-Wilk <0.05). The Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests will be used to assess the association between gender and age and vitamin D levels. The association between the classification of vitamin D levels (altered or normal) and the independent variables will be estimated by univariate and multiple Poisson regression models, with a significance level of 5%. The analyses will be carried out using the statistical program Data Analysis and Statistical Software for Professionals (Stata) version 11.0®.
