Abstract

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a chronic and progressive neurological condition, carachterized by processes that lead to neurodegeneration with cognitive loss and death. AD has gradual progression, resulting in memory loss, loss of cognitive capabilities and behavioral alterations that includes social interaction alterations, sleeping disturbances and circadian rhytm dysfunction. Diagnostic difficulties demand new investigative techniques that can reveal biomarkers, especially in early stages. Visual alteration is a common and well documented symptom of AD. The present project uses psychophysical and electrophysiological functional tests for the visual evaluation of DA and Mild Cognitive Compromise subjects in the search for reliable biomarkers.
