Abstract

Urban mobility, a polysemic and multidimensional concept, is going through a paradigmatic transformation in the field of social and political sciences based on a methodological and theoretical renewal. In this context, the technical vision previously focused only on transport is being redefined, placing greater emphasis on people. In this IC project, mobility is taken as one of the dimensions of the process of socio-spatial fragmentation, within a reduction in travel opportunities for city dwellers is observed as proposed by the FragUrb Thematic Project (2018/07701-8), which is linked to this one, intending to continue the studies started with the IC "Mobility in Dourados/MS, Maringá/PR and Ituiutaba/MG: between practices and possibilities under the fragmentary logic" (FAPESP Process; 2022/13826-3; 11/ 2022 - 10/2023), deepening the analyzes on Maringá/PR and Ituiutaba/MG. To do this, we intend to analyze municipal urban mobility policies as well as the organizations that are dedicated to this topic. Furthermore, we intend to identify the experiences lived by city dwellers, popular and upper middle class habitats, evaluating the socioeconomic role in mobility dynamics. In this process, we search to examine the potential of active modes and the relevance of home - work - home routes. Thus, we hope to contribute to the reflection on mobility as one of the essential attributes of urban life and its implications in the process of socio-spatial fragmentation.
