Abstract

Industrial and scientific advances promoted the development of techniques for additive manufacturing (AM) and, therefore, of the titanium surfaces, when obtained by this method. In order to understand the influence that such modifications cause, in view of the interaction between surfaces with the human body, and how atomic and molecular influence our microbiological characteristics, this project proposes to integration of knowledge areas through multi, inter and transdisciplinarity.This understanding will guide the delivery of individualized biomaterials for applications specific. Therefore, we designed a study whose objective will be to understand the influence of the microstructural characteristics of Ti6Al4V samples, obtained by the MA technique by selective laser fusion (SLM), with the mechanisms involved in the microbial profile. A SLM surface will be proven on discs and characterized by tunneling techniques quantum scanning tunnel microscopy (STM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), 3D confocal laser microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy dispersive spectroscopy X-ray diffraction (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), backscattered electron diffraction (EBSD), mobility and surface free energy. The quantification, diversity and the relative abundance of microorganisms will be determined by sequencing of the 16S rRNA-based PCR gene, in addition to microbial adhesion analyses. The results will be submitted to parametric tests or not, depending on the distribution of thedata (±=0.05).
