Abstract

The control of the progression of caries disease with the use of preventive strategies has shown promise in recent times, since it is a minimally invasive therapy. One of these strategies is the use of resinous infiltrants that act on incipient caries lesions, blocking enamel porosities and preventing further demineralization with the formation of cavitated lesions. The objective of this study is to analyze the possibility of adding nanoparticles of chitosan and zinc oxide to the infiltrant so that the infiltrant is still favorable in terms of the degree of conversion, sorption and solubility. These particles have been shown, in some studies, to improve the properties of dental materials such as antimicrobial and mechanical properties. For this study, an experimental infiltrant will be added to nanochitosan + zinc oxide at concentrations 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, 3.0% and 4% as well as zinc oxide in isolation. Thus, the degree of conversion will be analyzed and the most favorable concentrations will be submitted to sorption and solubility tests.
