Abstract

This research project is the basis for the application for a Research Internship Abroad Scholarship from FAPESP and is linked to the master's project entitled 'Politics, strategy and revolution: the revolutionary Marxist tradition in Daniel Bensaïd's thought', which seeks to analyze how the thinker incorporated the strategic debates of the revolutionary Marxist tradition in the elaboration of his own political-strategic thought. In the investigation of an author's thought, the study of his intellectual sources is of great importance for a proper understanding and analysis of his ideas and theoretical formulations. For this reason, this research project has as its central research objective the identification and analysis of the main strategic debates that marked the initial years of the Third International, between 1919 and 1924. Bensaïd makes explicit reference to various debates of the Third International, especially those on the themes of the united front, transitional demands and workers' government. Therefore, we will pay greater attention to the documents and debates related to these themes, so that we will focus on the third and fourth congresses of the Third International and the debates that took place at the three conferences of its Executive Committee during 1922 and 1923. The investigation will be based on bibliographical research and document analysis, seeking to work with an approach that articulates text and context in their reciprocal interactions. Thus, we intend to elucidate a decisive dimension of our main research problem, particularly by clarifying how Daniel Bensaïd incorporated the strategic debates that took place within the Third International.
