Abstract

In this project, we plan to study models of multi-band superconductors with d-symmetry with competition between pairings with different symmetries. In particular, we will focus initially on systems with two quasi-twodimensional bands with intra-band pairing with B2 symmetry, cos(2\theta), and inter-band interactions (attractive or repulsive) with B1 symmetry, sin(2\theta) (where we used the notation appropriate for irreducible representations of the D_{4h} point group). We want to study the competition between superconducting states with different symmetry. In particular, we plan to obtain the phase diagram of the model in the space of coupling constants and temperature. If time allows it, we will generalize the analysis to systems with more sheets and symmetries.
