Abstract

Dunaliella salina is one of the best-known photosynthetic microorganisms for its ability to produce ²-carotene, an important precursor of vitamin A and with antioxidant properties, in addition to helping in the absorption of CO2, contributing to the reduction of the greenhouse effect. As well as light intensity and concentration levels saline are capable of influencing the growth and carotenogenesis of microalgae, the addition of Plant hormones such as salicylic acid have also shown a significant effect in tests with small volumes in bottles. The present work aims to evaluate the production of Dunaliella salina in tubular photobioreactors, under a fed-batch regime, with addition of the phytohormone salicylic acid, allowing greater control of growth parameters, increasing scale and maximizing productivity.
