Abstract

In this project we apply the theory of Ordinary Differential Equations in the context of Civil Engineering. More specifically, using knowledge about Ordinary Differential Equations and based on some concepts of Mechanics, in this project we studied a curve, called deflection curve, which is generated through displacements caused by loads on a certain beam. Associated with this curve we have an ordinary differential equation for the deflection curve, from which we will obtain deflections and rotation angles in some types of existing beams.
