Abstract

Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is a codominant genetic disorder that has an important association with premature atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), thus contributing to the occurrence of acute myocardial infarction, aortic stenosis, peripheral arterial disease and stroke. In the biopsychosocial context, this disease possesses a relationship with decrease in quality of life if not treated adequately, leading to reduction on physical and mental health, and of life expectancy. The literature is scarce in Brazil regarding the correlation between Familial Hypercholesterolemia and parameters of quality of life, and the present study has the objective to bring to life these aspects, addressing questions on how these patients feel in the context of physical and mental health, social and environment interrelationship, and trying to understand the factors that contribute to better or worse quality of life. In addition, the data collected will contribute to the Brazilian Registry of Familial Hypercholesterolemia.
