Abstract

In the current context of the knowledge society, it is expected that several university campuses in the cities of São Paulo will undergo a process of transformation in the coming decades, with the installation of research and development institutes, innovation hubs, and technology-based companies in their surroundings. These new urban areas of knowledge will require a series of facilities and infrastructures, such as housing, services, sanitation, and open spaces for public use, among others. Considering their typical location in urban fringe areas, interfacing with agricultural areas, fragments of natural forests, and other pre-existing elements generally disconnected from consolidated urban areas, along with the current scenario of climate change, ecosystem destruction, and socio-economic crises, this transformation will face several challenges, necessitating new urban planning methods and tools. Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, this research project aims to identify, map, and study the conditions and challenges of adopting strategies and municipal public policies in dialogue with the sustainable city modeling undertaken in the urban ecosystem of the Campinas region. Methodologically, to achieve the general objective of this project, which employs a qualitative and exploratory approach, bibliographical and documentary research activities, as well as primary and secondary data collection, will be conducted. This will include the application of a survey involving public managers, company executives, social movements, and subject matter experts, utilizing both survey and Delphi method techniques.
