Abstract

This project aims to understand the greenhouse gas (GHG) balance and its applicability to plasticulture, and also the use of spreadsheets, models, codes, or software that carry out this balance. Plasticulture is a technique that involves the use of plastic materials in agriculture to improve crop yields, although it promotes a large generation of plastic waste. The GHG balance is a calculation used to measure emissions of substances such as methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide. The aim is to evaluate existing models and methodologies for possible adaptation and, at the same time, identify potential gaps in the literature. To this end, a literature review will be carried out to determine the best practices used in the models, as well as the most used methodology. Followed by bibliometric analyses in order to select relevant studies. Therefore, this process seeks to determine the feasibility of adapting GHG balance sheets for the plasticulture chain. Finally, this results in a literature review article on the topic and also in a method that carries out this balance for the plasticulture chain.
