Abstract

Introduction: asthma is the chronic inflammation of the airways and has a higher incidence and prevalence in children. In addition, 30% to 40% of asthmatic children have RSD, this is due to increased inflammation of the airways at night. Therefore, as the last systematic review published on the subject was in 2014, further studies are important to understand the relationship between the two pathologies. Objective: To understand the relationship between atopic asthma and SDB in children and adolescents. Materials and methods: Systematic review with meta-analysis, with searches in PubMed/Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane Central and Web of Science. Studies with pediatric patients up to 17 years, 11 months and 29 days with DRS associated with atopic asthma will be eligible, regardless of the duration of symptoms. The studies will include patients with occupational asthma, asthma due to respiratory infection and will exclude those with other associated respiratory pathologies. Patients from primary, secondary and tertiary levels of complexity will be selected for the analysis. For selection, two independent reviewers will analyze the titles and abstracts of the articles and apply the eligibility criteria; if there is any disagreement, a third reviewer will resolve it by consensus. In the statistical analysis, heterogeneity will be calculated using I-square. The quality of the evidence will be classified according to the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Developing and Evaluation (GRADE) system. The aim is to submit the manuscript of the systematic review for publication in the following journals: Current Problems in Pediatric and Adolescent Health Care, Archives de Pédiatrie, Journal of Pediatric Health Care, and Jornal de Pedriatria.
