Abstract

In this research project, through bioinformatics, data will be analyzedhumans, at the transcriptomic level, to understand how, and how much, gene expressionschange in individuals with different diseases. We have as our goal to study the main methods used in transcriptome analysis, and totry them out on concrete data. To this end, sets of data that have already been the subject of other published articles will be re-examined, so that it is possible to compare our results with those already published, aiming to evaluate the efficiency of our learning, which may even add new perspectives on topics already studied. Two types of data will be covered, microarray and RNA-Sequencing. Using libraries such as edgeR or DESeq2, we will carry out a statistical survey of gene readings to identify which of them are differentially expressed. Once these genes are identified, gene enrichment analyses, GSEA, will be carried out to group them according to the biological processes of which they are part. To enable the study of the data sets used, dimensionality reduction algorithms will be applied, such as PCA or tSNE.
