Abstract

The concept of participatory research encompasses various research methods with different theoretical foundations, all aimed at constructing knowledge through scientific inquiry. These methodologies are crucial in establishing social responsibilities and facilitating a dialogue between practice and theory within the research process. However, in a country where a significant portion of the population has been marginalized and made vulnerable for centuries, it is essential to explore how participatory research methods can address social inequality. In this context, universities serve as crucial institutions for shaping public policies, implementing healthcare initiatives, and safeguarding public welfare. Therefore, through a scoping review, this project seeks to assess and analyze the various forms and impacts of participatory research methodologies within socially disadvantaged communities.
